Anagram vs Microsoft Word
Word can make nearly any document, given enough time. Anagram is for the documents where you would rather not spend it: reports, proposals and contracts that have to look right, stay consistent and survive an assistant working on them.

Where Anagram is better
It looks designed without you designing it
A new Word document is Calibri on a default template, and a good-looking one is hours of styles set by hand. Anagram starts from one of six document styles (report, proposal, contract, memo, notes, standard), each a whole type system with spacing, headings and table styling that agree with each other.
What you see is what gets sent
The screen, the PDF and the Word file come out of the same layout engine, so page breaks, table widths and fonts are the same in all three. The fonts ship with Anagram, so nobody opening it is missing one.
Numbers that stay in step
A chart reads the table it sits under and redraws when a figure changes. A fee, a date or a name can be a variable, typed once and shown everywhere, and a variable can be a formula over the others. In Word each of those is a separate thing to keep up to date by hand.
Built for your agents, not only for one
Anagram speaks MCP, so Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor or anything else that does can read a document, edit a range, style a table and draw a chart. Every change is a version you can undo in one step, and a document you are typing in cannot be written to underneath you.
Where Microsoft Word is the better choice today

Live co-editing is coming to Anagram soon. Until it does, if several people need to be in the same document at once, Word in Microsoft 365 is the one that does it.
Review with comments and tracked changes
Tracked changes and comments are how contracts are negotiated. Both are coming to Anagram soon; until then, when a document goes back and forth between lawyers, keep it in Word.
Offline, add-ins and the rest of Office
Word runs without a connection, takes add-ins and macros, does mail merge, and sits inside Outlook, Excel and Teams. Offline is coming to Anagram soon; the rest of Office is not something it is trying to be.
Moving over
Open a .docx in Anagram with File → Open and it comes in with its text, headings, lists, tables and pictures. Comments and footnotes are not imported yet, so check a document that relies on them.
Going the other way is File → Save → Word (.docx), from the same engine that laid the document out, and the export tells you about anything it could not carry across rather than leaving the reader to find it.
